Twelve sub-surface moorings were deployed in the Southern Ocean from late October 1997 until mid-March 1998.  Attached to each of these moorings was an irradiance sensor head that measured downwelling irradiance at seven wavebands in the visible from a depth of 50 m.

This set of documents describes the mooring design, locations, instrument characteristics and data processing and format.  Access to the data is also provided.

This study is part of an ongoing research effort in the Southern Ocean by the Oregon State University (O.S.U.) Remote Sensing Ocean Optics (ORSOO) group.
