Polar Front data

These ascii data files begin with a 9-line header describing the file contents.  The data are presented in two columns:

column 1: longitude (negative values are degrees west)
column 2: latitude (negative values are degrees south)

chlorophyll data

These ascii data describe the chlorophyll concentration along 170^oW, from 75^oS to 55^oS at 9 km increments.  The data are separated into weekly means, with a header at the beginning of each week of the form: "globchlw9740", where "97" is the year and "40" is the week number.  The first data point for each week is at 75^oS, and the last one is at 55^oS.

sea ice coverage data

The format for these data is similar to that for the chlorophyll data, except that the headers are of the form: "soicew9740".
