Several deployments of a Tethered Spectral Radiometer Buoy (TSRB) were made in the Southern Ocean in October/November 1997 and again in January 1998. This instrument measures downwelling irradiance just above the sea surface and upwelling radiance just below the sea surface at seven wavebands in the visible, as well as the sea surface temperature. This set of documents describes the instrument characteristics, deployments, data processing and data format. Access to the data is also provided. This study is part of an ongoing research effort in the Southern Ocean by the Oregon State University (O.S.U.) Remote Sensing Ocean Optics (ORSOO) group.
