introduction

Optical drifters were deployed off the Oregon Coast (44oN, 125oW) in June and August 2000 as part of the U.S. GLOBEC (Global Ocean Ecosystems Dynamics) Northeast Pacific program.  This site presents data and figures of the optical and physical data collected during the deployment.  These data are freely available for scientific use.

Several optical drifters are currently in the water collecting data as part of the Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics (GLOBEC) research program. 
Frequent updates of their progress as well as preliminary data are available from the update website.
