format | calibration | saturation values The calibrated TSRB data are presented in ascii format with 17 columns of data: Column 1: day of year (GMT
time; day 1 = Jan 1 1998) Note that for data storage purposes, the data were originally collected in up to 8 separate files over each day. The time gap between each of these files is usually about 20 s (although occasionally the time gap can be 15 minutes long). These smaller files have been concatenated together into large single day files.
This instrument was calibrated by Satlantic, Inc., before use. The calibration file (TSRB003.cal) has the following format: Rows 1-12: header lines An example set of irradiance calibration values from this file is shown below: ES 411.8
'uW/cm^2/nm' 2 BU 1 OPTIC2 The first number, 411.8, is the center wavelength of that channel. The appropriate units for the calibrated channel are shown in quotes (uW/cm^2/nm). The calibrated dark value (counts) is the first number on the second line (32768.0). The next number (9.5409e-003) is the calibration factor (F) to convert units of counts to irradiance (uW/cm2/nm). The final number (1.00) is the immersion correction (Im). There are seven pairs of lines in this format, one for each channel. The appropriate equation for converting raw (count) irradiance values to irradiance values in units of uW/cm2/nm is: Ed(calibrated) = [Ed(counts)-dark(counts)] * F * Im. A similar equation yields the calibrated radiance values. The temperature calibration values consist of a list of seven numbers (t0 ...t6). The temperature (in degrees C) is calculated as: T(calibrated) = t0 + t1*T(counts) + t2*T(counts)2 + ... + t6*T(counts)6. Note that the data presented here have already been calibrated and do not need to have these corrections applied. The calibration files are included here for completeness.
