An ongoing series of optical measurements is in progress off the coast of Hawai'i. These measurements are made at the same 2 or 3 stations every month using a Tethered Spectral Radiometer Buoy (TSRB). This instrument measures temporal variations in downwelling irradiance, upwelling radiance and water temperature at the sea surface. This website describes the instrument used, deployment procedures and locations, and the resulting data. The data from these measurements may also be downloaded from this site if desired.
