introduction

An ongoing series of optical measurements is in progress off the coast of Hawai'i.  These measurements are made at the same 2 or 3 stations every month using a Profiling Reflectance Radiometer (PRR).  This instrument measures optical profiles of downwelling irradiance and upwelling radiance in the upper 200 m of the water column, referenced to surface measurements of downwelling irradiance.

This website describes the instruments used, deployment procedures and locations, and the resulting data.  The data from these measurements may also be downloaded from this site if desired.
