Data Files The data are formatted in 8 tab-delimited columns, in the following order:
Note that the decimal day times are in Pacific Standard Time for the 1997 data, and in Hawaii Standard Time for 1998 onwards. No daylight-savings time corrections are required to the decimal day data. Calibration Files Calibrations of the OCI-200 sensors are made by Satlantic, Inc. The calibration file for the 1997 data (hale.cal) contains only two columns:
The dark counts were assumed to be zero. The irradiance was simply calculated by multiplying the measured irradiances by the calibration factor. For 1998 and 1999, the calibration files (hale98sd.cal, hale99sd.cal, and hale99bsd.cal) contain four columns:
The dark counts were taken to be the minimum measured values at night during the period of deployment. The irradiances were then calculated by first subtracting the dark values from the measured values, then multiplying by both the calibration factor and the immersion correction.
